Launch of Public Consultations Process : Montréal Chapter of Rights and Responsibilities

Montréal, February 23, 2004 – The Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM) reminds the
population that the public consultation on the draft Montréal Charter of Rights and Responsibilities will
be launched on Tuesday, February 24, in Montréal's Marché Bonsecours, 350 Saint-Paul Street East,
(Champ-de-Mars Métro).

THE MONTRÉAL CHARTER OF RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Born of the Sommet de Montréal and prepared under the aegis of the workshop on democracy, the
proposed Montréal Charter is submitted to public consultation by the Ville de Montréal. The proposed
Charter sets out rights, responsibilities and commitments in the following areas:

  • Democratic life
  • Economic and social life
  • Cultural life
  • Environment and sustainable development
  • Physical security
  • Quality municipal services
